Look at me….2 posts in one weekend!!!

LOL…How about that….can you tell I’ve been having a BLAST in my ARTHaven!!! I’ve had the best time…..I had been watching You Tube Videos on the new goodies coming to the market from CHA 2012……One that really struck my interest was the one from Tim Holtz on the new Sizzix Diffusers coming to the market……here’s the link to the tutorial if you want to see it…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdBy1kBy4P8 ….
Let me just say I LOVE this idea!!!!….But then I got to thinking…..knowing me I’m not going to be happy with just one type of diffuser……I’m the type person that loves things to be different or customized for whatever project I’m working on…….not even to mention the fact the embossing folders on the market today are not all the same size……..there are 5x7 sizes and several that are multiple sizes smaller…..so I didn’t like the idea for ME of being restricted to that particular size and design…….SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….my brain got to work and me and my best buddy….”Sable” got to work…….LOL  If you don’t already know… “Sable” is my Black Cat Lynx cutter…..LOVE HER!!!!  She does an AMAZING job!!!!
So…on to my story…..In the video he tells you the approximate thickness of the diffuser is the same thickness of the thin “B” plate…..so that’s how I decided how many layers of .022 Chipboard  I used……..I decided to use 3 layers…..I get my chipboard from Tyler at AllThatJazzSupplies.com .  His chipboard is amazing quality and cuts beautifully!!!!!  I adhered the layers together with my ATG Gun…
UPDATE:  I’m SUPER EXCITED!!!! I just got an email from Tyler with AllThatJazzSupplies.com……..HE ROCKS I tell you….Guess what he did….he’s allowing me to share a COUPON CODE WITH YOU…so if you purchase the chipboard from his store….you can get 25% off….How COOL is that!!!!  Here’s the direct link to the 2 thicknesses he has…and the coupon code….
Use Coupon Code:  penny
Thanks Tyler!!

Wanna see how mine turned out???????

Don’t you just LOVE that AMAZING detail you get!!!! It’s AWESOME I tell you……and the best part is I created just what I wanted!!!  The top diffuser you might notice that I used one of my PDC Shaplie Files to make my aperature space……..and now that I have this made…I can use it over and over and over…….Now you could also use the “cutout” piece to get the reverse affect if you like as well…..I’m sure you’re wondering….”Penny….what was your “Sandwich Recipe?”….well…
Now obviously you’re only going to use one diffuser at at time….I placed it from top to bottom as listed below……(I used a Sizzix BigKick)….
Diffuser
Embossing Folder (with paper inserted)
Clear Plate
Platform
As a side note….LOL…..(If you ever need someone to test an embossing piece of equipment to it’s limits……LOL…I’m your girl…..BUT beware!!! I’m known to break them…hehehe….as I did that just today….and had to get a brand new embossing machine….LOL)
You’ll notice I also inked them too….and I have to say I love the affects of that look too!!!  Give it a go…I know you’re going to be HOOKED!!!!!
THEN…..when hubby and I were in the home improvement store the other night for him to get things to fix our water line that got destroyed in the weather the other day….I came upon some Gutter Netting……..
Hummmmmmmmmmm….I thought…….bet  I can find “something” to use this for…..so into the cart it went……..well…while making my diffusers I decided to cut off a piece of this Gutter Netting and give it a ride through my embossing machine…..  Here’s the recipe I used with my Sizzix BigKick……….but I DID NOT USE a clear plate…..here’s the layering I used from top to bottom…..
Gutter Netting
Paper
2 mouse pads (I get mine at Big Lots and cut down to the size of the plates)
Platform
Isn’t that COOL!!!!!!
So……..I thought….(Yeah….I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately….so much so my brain hurts!!! LOL)….back to my thought… “Well Penny….NOW you need to MAKE SOMETHING to show how cool this really is…..”  OK I told myself…LOL  So here’s what I came up with….Hope you like it!!!!

I deliberately have shown you several images of the card so you can see the AMAZING detail I got from the homemade diffusers!!! In case you’re wondering how I achieved to get BOTH textures on the paper….first I ran the Gutter Netting through and did the entire piece of paper….THEN I inserted the paper into the decorative embossing folder and then put my diffuser on the top and ran through the embossing machine again…… I’m excited….will definitely be making tons of these for myself….
Something else I wanted to share with you that I’ve started doing and I KNOW I’ll be using my rubber/acrylic stamps more because of this…….notice the phrase I have stamped and placed on the card……here’s a reminder…

See how it’s cut out perfectly……YEP I stamped it……I took the rubber stamp sheet that comes in the package to show you what the stamp looks like and scanned that into my computer….then I isolated out the image I wanted to make a cut mat for……..and then created a shadow layer for it……I did this in Inkscape…you could also do it in MTC if you have the program…..(keep in mind…I OWN the stamps themselves….Just putting that out there incase someone tries to twist around what I’m saying…….) Ok…now that THAT is clear!!   Once I made my mat layer I simply cut it out…….I decided to do it just a smidge bigger then the stamp itself……then once cut out I simply stamped the phrase with my Archival Sephia Inkpad…..then distressed with my Distress Ink pads in Wild Honey & Vintage Photo…which are the same colors I distressed the card with……
Then I decided to decorate with pearls on the “tufted” part of the card and added some of my leaves and my PDC Grungy Roses with a bit of a pearl bead spray and some ribbon…..I’m really happy with how the entire card came out…and it’s definitely unique!!! See what you can do…..and it will be totally your creation with the imagination you have!!!
Okie Dokie…….I hope you like my brain share today!!  I sure enjoyed sharing it with you and it was SO GOOD to play 2 days in a row!!!  THANK YOU so much for stopping by to visit with me….I do so hope you’ll come by again…..I also wish you all a very  blessed week!!!!  Until next time…
